CT Man Nabbed In Connection To Fatal Shooting Of 21-Year-Old

A Connecticut man has been arrested for the shooting death of a 21-year-old Western Mass man.

The murder took place in Hampden County in Springfield on Worthington Street around 10 p.m. on Friday, April 15.

Hartford resident Andre Wise, age 21, was arrested on Wednesday, May 4, for the shooting of Karmari Alexander, of Springfield, said Ryan Walsh, spokesman for the Springfield Police Department.

Following the homicide, Wise was identified as a suspect and a warrant was granted for his arrest, Walsh said.

On Wednesday, around 3:30 p.m. Wise was nabbed near the intersection of Hall and Dickson streets by members of the Springfield Police with help from the following departments:

  • US Marshal task force
  • Massachusetts State Police
  • Hampden County Sheriff's Office
  • Hampden County District Attorney's Office

During the arrest, detectives seized a loaded firearm and crack cocaine from Wise, Walsh said.

Wise, who is being held for arraignment, was charged with:

  • Murder
  • Carrying a loaded firearm without a license
  • Carrying a firearm without a license
  • Five counts of home invasion
  • Malicious destruction of property + $1200
  • Assault with a dangerous weapon
  • Carrying a loaded firearm without a license
  • Possession of a Class B drug
